Which leather belt is right for you?

• Italian full-grain belts: The Italian Two-Layer and The Italian One-Piece, made in Italy from 100% full-grain cowhide, double-stitched, buckle on. Both ship free.
• Signature Belts: ready-made with the buckle on, including The Executive, The Italian Select, the distressed Longhorn and the Hand-Braided. All six are on our Signature Belts page.
• Build your own: pick a strap and a buckle and we cut and fit them together. Dress straps in croc-, ostrich- and lizard-textured or pebbled Italian leather, from $85, on our Belt Straps page. Buckles from $25 on our Buckles page.
• Western straps: 38mm (1.5 in) full-grain cowhide with snaps, so a trophy buckle comes off and another goes on in seconds. Plain, floral tooled or Celtic knot, from $45.
• Exotic belts: genuine crocodile, hornback crocodile, ostrich, python, stingray and lizard, one of each, buckle on, $275 to $400. See Exotic Belts. Genuine exotic straps for your own build start at $250.

How to find your belt size

Your belt size is your waist plus two inches: a 34 waist takes a 36 belt. The surest way is a tape measure around your waist where you wear the belt, over your pants and through the loops, plus two. You can also lay a belt that fits you well flat and measure from the fold at the buckle to the hole you use. We cut so the buckle lands on the middle hole, with room either way. Which sizes does each belt come in?

Each belt comes in the sizes shown on its page. Most stop at 42, and a few come bigger: the Black Italian One-Piece goes up to 50. We can't make a belt longer than the sizes listed for it, so check the size list before you choose a style.

What belt width do you need?

• 30mm (1.2 in): The Executive. Slim enough for a suit.
• 32mm (1.25 in): The Italian Select, The Italian One-Piece and the Black Stingray Belt. A classic dress width for suits, dress trousers and chinos.
• 35mm (1.4 in): The Italian Two-Layer, most of our dress straps and the Brown Ostrich Belt. A middle width that works with chinos and jeans.
• 38mm (1.5 in): our western straps, the wider exotic straps, and the other eight exotic belts. The wide, casual width that suits jeans.

Before you order, check that the width fits through the belt loops on the pants you wear most.

Cut to size, online or in the store

Online, most belts are cut to size when you order: the Italian belts, The Executive and The Italian Select ship the next business day, and a belt from the builder is cut within one business day and shipped within two. The Longhorn and the Hand-Braided come ready-cut in even sizes. Standard shipping is $8 (free on orders of $100 or more, 3 to 7 business days); Priority is $15 (2 to 4). Local pickup at our Wellington store is always free. In the store we keep pre-cut belts from size 30 to 60, and we can cut any belt down to size 12 while you wait, usually in 15 to 30 minutes. One limit: California law doesn't allow python or lizard products to be sold there, so we can't ship the Natural Python Belt, the Brown Lizard Western Belt or the python and lizard skin straps to California.
