Two leather messenger satchels, worn across the body so your hands stay free. The Flap Messenger ($95) is oiled leather that darkens and creases with wear; the squarer Buckle Messenger ($120) closes with an antique brass buckle over a full-width flap. Each holds a laptop or tablet up to 12 inches, a notepad and a phone.

Flap or buckle: which messenger satchel is for you?

Flap Messenger Satchel ($95): the taller, softer one. Oiled leather that darkens and creases as you use it, a zip pocket across the back, and a webbing strap with leather where it sits on your shoulder. Dark brown, tan or oxblood.
Buckle Messenger Satchel ($120): the squarer, more structured one, so papers travel flat. A single strap and antique brass buckle close the full-width flap, with a zip pocket on the back and an adjustable leather strap. Black or dark brown.

Pick the Flap if you like a bag that looks more lived-in every year. Pick the Buckle if you want a neater shape for the office.

Is a satchel the same as a messenger bag?

Today the two words mean nearly the same thing: a bag with a flap over the opening, worn across the body on one long strap. Ours are messenger-style satchels, cut in 100% leather and sized for a 12-inch laptop or tablet. Carry a bigger laptop, or prefer to carry a bag by its handles? Questions we get asked

Will a laptop fit in a leather satchel?

Yes, up to 12 inches. Both of our satchels hold a laptop or tablet up to 12 inches, a notepad and a phone. For a laptop up to 16 inches, choose one of our cowhide briefcases.

Can you adjust the strap?

Yes. Both straps adjust so the satchel sits where you want it across your body.

Do the satchels ship free?

The Buckle Messenger Satchel ($120) ships free. The Flap Messenger Satchel ($95) ships for $8 standard, or free if your order comes to $100 or more. Local pickup at our Wellington store is always free.

Can I return a satchel?

Yes. Return it unused and in its original condition within 7 days of delivery for a full refund or store credit, with no restocking fee. Return postage is yours.
