How do I find my size?
Three ways, best first. We cut so you land on the middle hole, with room either way.
BestMeasure your waist
Put a tape measure around your waist where you actually wear a belt — over the trousers, through the loops, not against your skin. Keep it snug but not tight. Add two inches to that number.
Wear what you would normally wear with a belt. Measuring against bare skin or over a thick jumper will both give you the wrong number.
GoodMeasure a belt that fits you properly
Lay it flat and measure from the fold where the strap meets the buckle to the hole you use.
This only works if that belt fits you well — you wear it comfortably, on a middle hole. If you have added holes to it, or you wear it on the very first or last hole, the number will be off. Measure your waist instead.
OkayPant size plus two
A 34 waist takes a 36 belt.
Only if those trousers actually fit you. A pair that is a size too big or too small is the most common reason a belt comes out wrong.

Vafa Tahernia has been buying leather since 1991, walking trade-show aisles and supplier lines from Italy, Turkey and India. She still cuts belts to size at the counter, from straps she chose herself. If the fit isn't right, bring it back and she'll adjust it.

Questions people ask before they build one.
How do I know my size?
Measure your waist with a tape over your pants, where you wear a belt, and add two inches. That is your belt size. No tape? Lay a belt that fits you well flat and measure from the fold at the buckle to the hole you use. Pant size plus two is only a rough guide, because pants do not always fit the way the label says. We cut so you land on the middle hole, which leaves room either way. The full guide is in step 3 above.
Can I return a custom belt?
No. It is cut to your measurement, so it cannot go back on the shelf for someone else. That is also why we would rather answer a sizing question first: call the counter at (561) 517-8958 or send us a note. If the fit is off, bring it in and we will adjust it.
How long does it take?
Your belt is cut within one business day of the order, usually the morning after it comes in, and shipped within two. Pickup orders are usually ready the next business day. Delivery time after that depends on the shipping option you choose at checkout.
What is the difference between a buckle and a buckle set?
A buckle is the buckle on its own. A set adds the matching metal loop (the keeper) and a metal tip for the tail of the strap, which is the dressier finish. Both are complete belts.
Can I change the buckle later?
Yes. Any buckle of the same width fits this strap. Western straps snap on and off, so you can swap buckles at home. Dress and exotic straps are fitted at the counter, so bring the belt in or order the buckle and we will fit it.
What is the strap actually made of?
Dress straps are Italian leather, embossed with the croc, lizard, ostrich or pebbled texture you pick. Western straps are a single piece of 100% cowhide. Exotic straps are the genuine skin named on the strap: alligator, crocodile, ostrich, python, lizard or stingray. Nothing bonded, coated or “vegan”.
Is it a good gift?
It is one of the few gifts that is genuinely made for the person. Use their pant size plus two. If you are not sure of it, ask us first and we will help you get it right.
