Sizing Guide

A belt that fits sits on the middle hole with room to move either way. Here is how to find that number, from the most reliable method to the quickest.

Three ways to find your size

Best

Measure your waist

Put a tape measure around your waist where you actually wear a belt — over the trousers, through the loops, not against your skin. Keep it snug but not tight. Add two inches to that number.

Wear what you would normally wear with a belt. Measuring against bare skin or over a thick jumper will both give you the wrong number.

Good

Measure a belt that fits you properly

Lay it flat and measure from the fold where the strap meets the buckle to the hole you use.

This only works if that belt fits you well — you wear it comfortably, on a middle hole. If you have added holes to it, or you wear it on the very first or last hole, the number will be off. Measure your waist instead.

Okay

Pant size plus two

A 34 waist takes a 36 belt.

Only if those trousers actually fit you. A pair that is a size too big or too small is the most common reason a belt comes out wrong.

Good to know

  • Ready-made belts come in even sizes from 32 to 44 and are standard returns under our seven-day policy.
  • Custom belts from the builder are cut so you land on the third hole, which leaves room to move in both directions as the leather settles. Because they are cut to one person's measurement, they are final sale.
  • Between sizes or unsure? Ask us first — we would far rather answer a question than cut a belt wrong. Or come by the counter and we will size you in a minute.

Run a tape measure around your head, just above your ears and eyebrows, where the hat will sit. Keep it level and snug, then find that number below.

Hat sizes

Size Hat size Inches Centimetres
S 7 21.5 – 22 55 – 56
M 7⅛ 22.5 – 23 57 – 58
L 23.25 – 23.75 59 – 60
XL 7⅜ 24 61

Good to know

  • Between two sizes? Take the smaller one. Leather gives with wear; a hat that starts loose only gets looser.
  • Not every hat comes in every size. The sizes on each hat’s page are the ones on the shelf.
  • A new hat sits firm. With wear the brim relaxes and takes the set you give it.
